Asus Monitor RT-AC5300 Review

The Asus RT-5300 tri-band router is versatile. It supports three Wi-Fi bands, one with 2.4GHz and two at 5GHz. All three bands have higher bandwidths because it is equipped with the most recent Broadcom Wi-Fi chips. The 2.4GHz band can transmit at a maximum speed of 1,000Mbps while the 5GHz bands can transmit at a maximum speed of 2,167Mbps. It has a combined bandwidth capacity of 300Mbps.

These extremely fast speeds are theoretically possible. Actual speed will depend on the Wi-Fi devices used by users, such as tablets and phones. Speed is affected by interference, software/hardware overheads, and ranges. It does however offer a much better real-world performance which makes the Asus RT-5300 very exciting. It also supports obsolete Wi-Fi clients such as the 802.11b. To get the best benefit, users must support the 802.11ac as well as the tier that provides the same performance as this router.

Unusual Design

The Asus RT-5300 is a very unusual device. It looks like a dead spider on its back. It has eight antennas to transmit three wireless networks. Two of these are quad-stream 4x4 802.11ac. This design is best for environments with high wireless traffic and users who need the fastest possible wireless speeds via multiple devices.

It is difficult to find another Wi Fi router with this many antennas. Moreover, RT-5300 is the only consumer router with a square design. It has huge dimensions and an odd appearance that you don't see every day.

Connectivity

There are eight detachable dual-band antennas on the Asus 5300. This is the most number of external antennas that have been available to a home router. The router has two USB ports, one USB.2.0 and one USB.3.0. This allows it to host both a printer and an external hard drive. These ports can be used by clients to host a dongle if they wish to share a 3G/4G connection with other devices on the local network. Despite being very large, the RT-5300 still has the 4GB LAN ports and 1GB WAN ports.

Safety feature

The RT–AC5300 is in keeping with the RT–AC87U, RT–AC3200 and RT–AC3200 routers. It features an easy-to-use interface and supports the AiProtection network security service. This is designed to keep any local network safe from possible threats.

Both the pros and cons

Pros

  • Operation at high speed
  • High bandwidth
  • Great safety features
  • Unfit for home use

Cons

  • Extremely heavy
  • Quite expensive

The Asus RT-5300 router is a large router that will far outstrip the needs of most homes. The Asus RT-5300 is a great choice if you're looking for a router with high quality and a lot of 5Ghz Wi Fi users who must perform extremely demanding wireless networking applications.
